Update: Your Google Guarantee in Google Local Service Ads is Getting a Makeover in October 2025

A quick update dropped from Google today that will impact their Local Service Ads (GLSA) badging system and which will give you a whole new marker to look out for. 

What Changed?

Starting October 20, 2025, Google is simplifying its trust badges into one brand-new Google Verified badge. Just like that, Google Guaranteed, Google Screened, and License Verified: they're all officially retired. Wrapped up in the update, Google is also scrapping the Money‑Back Guarantee tied to the old Google Guarantee badge.

What It Means for Home Services with Local Service Ads

1. One Badge to Rule Them All


From a green checkmark to a blue stamp, you will now have one Google Verified badge and one google stamp of approval.

2. (Mostly) Seamless Transition

All your work wasn’t wasted and there aren’t any new headaches, you’ll automatically get upgraded to Google Verified. No additional paperwork is required.

3. New to the LSA World? Same Process.

If you are starting a new GLSA account, you’ll need to pass the same verification checks on licenses, background checks, and insurance to qualify for that shiny new badge.

Worth Noting:


If you have used your Google Guarantee for bragging rights, promoting its Money-Back Guarantee for peace of mind, take that one out of your bag of tricks because it is going away. You’ll want to look into alternative ways to highlight your trustworthiness (think customer reviews, white-glove service, or warranty offers).
